A new year and a new chapter begins for Chantel McGregor with the eagerly anticipated follow-up to her debut album Like No Other planned for release this year.

Chantel McGregor is one of the rising stars of British blues rock. An accomplished guitarist, McGregor has been playing since a young age. Having swept the board at the British Blues Awards over the last four years, twice picking up the much coveted Guitarist of the Year award, along with Best Female Vocalist and Young Artist of the Year awards. Where blues are concerned, McGregor is a force to be reckoned with.

After the success of Like No Other, now comes what is always described as the difficult second album. McGregor introduced some of her new material at Whitby Blues Festival at the end of last year. New tracks like the acoustic “Anethesthetise,” riff heavy “Killing Time,” and “Walk on Land,” were very well received. The tracks exhibit superb guitar work, and you wouldn’t expect anything less. With this release, she has taken the opportunity to flex her songwriting muscles and deliver an edgier second album with some darker undertones and hard rock influences.

McGregor will be undertaking an extensive UK tour throughout 2015 in support of her new album. National Blues Review will be in attendance at the Gala Theatre in Durham on the 15th April to bring you all the action from the tour. We recently caught up with McGregor to talk about her new album, her influences and inspirations, and her plans for 2015.
